Welcome to Marana, Arizona.
Marana is quickly becoming the place to live, work, play and learn in southern Arizona. It has grown from its early roots as a center for farming and ranching to a modern town with nearly 80 square miles of residential developments, commercial districts and recreational opportunities.
Marana has a wide variety of neighborhoods for all its residents including newer home developments in Continental Ranch, the original portion of Marana that is still largely rural and agricultural, sumptuous golf course homes at Dove Mountain, and two age-restricted communities at Sunflower and Heritage Highlands. It is expected that the estimated population of 14,000 will more than double in the next 10 years.
Marana is ideally situated to explore all of the attractions in the metropolitan Tucson area. The world-famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Old Tucson Studios are a short drive from Marana through the scenic Saguaro National Park. Looking to explore more of southern Arizona? Center yourself in Marana and you are a short drive away from Columbia University's Biosphere 2 Center, the International Wildlife Museum, Kitt Peak, the Pima Air and Space Museum, Catalina and Picacho Peak State Parks and many mountain ranges for day hikes and overnight trips. You can also take day trips to Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, Bisbee, and Mexico.
Marana also features several special events throughout the year. In March the annual Founders' Day weekend celebrates the incorporation of Marana with a parade, festival in the park, a 10K run and other activities to make it a weekend to remember. In July Marana hosts southern Arizona's largest 4th of July celebration featuring old-fashioned family games, food, live music and a spectacular fireworks show. Other events include the Multiple Sclerosis Society's annual Corona de Marana Bike Tour in September and a Christmas tree lighting festival in Marana Park in early December.
